Witness the Fitness! Did We Beat Last Year’s National Fitness Day Total?
Places for People Leisure has once more embraced ukactive’s National Fitness Day which took place on the 27th September; celebrating the fun side of fitness and physical activity, whilst promoting the importance of healthy, active lifestyles for all ages.
PfP leisure centres across the country hosted a range of free sessions and open days for the public, encouraging people to sample new sports, fitness activities and disciplines.
Activities on offer to centre visitors on National Fitness Day ranged from high-intensity training to gentle aqua aerobics, and from Boot Camps to Body Step.
Places for People Leisure staff across the country also joined forces for a national Squat Challenge - aiming to gather as many people as possible to take part in the popular strength-building exercise.
This year’s Squat Challenge, which also invited public participation, saw 14,019 people completing 310,385 squats.
Sandra Dodd, Chief Executive at Places for People Leisure, said:
“Most people realise the benefits of an active lifestyle, but aren’t necessarily aware of the abundance of opportunities that are now available to them which can fit in with their busy schedules.
“National Fitness Day offers the ideal opportunity to showcase the broad range of fitness activities on offer to all ability levels, and promote the social aspects of exercise too. ”
See the highlights from the day in the video below and a massive well done and thank you to everyone who joined in including our top performing site, Ripley Leisure Centre, managed on behalf of Amber Valley Borough Council who squatted an impressive 33,020 times! Did we succeed in beating last year’s total though…
