Sparkhill's Amy and Louisa deliver the goods!

Two staff members from Sparkhill Pool and Fitness Centre have swapped the swimming pool for the supermarket to support elderly and vulnerable members of their community during the coronavirus disruption.

Forced to take a break from their day jobs of swimming instructor and lifeguard while the centre is closed due to restrictions around COVID-19, Amy and Louisa are now sourcing and delivering essential food and home supplies (plus some surprise Easter treats) for people in the Acocks Green, Tyseley, South Yardley and Olton areas who cannot currently get to the shops because of illness or self-isolation.

Amy and Louisa’s kindness doesn’t stop at practical support – they are also making themselves available to chat and provide reassurance to anyone in need of human interaction.

Local branches of Greggs, Tesco and Morrisons have extended the ladies' generosity, donating trolleys filled with donations. Savers have even created an in-store donation point for them.

Such is the success of their community scheme, Louisa and Amy have raised over £700 for the NHS and Age UK, and they have featured on Solihull Radio and BBC WM.

They can be contacted via their dedicated Facebook page, ‘Covid-19 Amy and Lou’s Shopping Assistance & Delivery’.
