Fitness Centre closure FAQ

Carnival Pool and Fitness Centre will be demolished on 20th April 2020 to make way for a brand-new leisure centre, which will take around two years to complete.

We’ve produced these handy FAQs to answer your questions and we’ll add answers to your more popular questions.

What happens to the team at Carnival Pool and Fitness Centre?

We’re pleased to say that you’ll see the same familiar faces at the new Bulmershe Leisure Centre, as most of the team will move across. There will also be vacancies, please visit our careers site to see more.

How can I stay active when Carnival Pool and Fitness Centre closes?

We’ve made a significant investment into the Places Leisure centres in Wokingham Borough, and we’d love to welcome you to one them. For many of our Premium members it’s just a case of asking the membership team at Carnival Pool and Fitness Centre what your current membership entitles you to and they’ll happily guide you through your options. If you have a Swim membership you already have access to Loddon Valley Leisure Centre's pool, and the new Bulmershe Leisure Centre will have a pool too.

Below are links to timetables, opening hours and locations of local centres.

We look forward to welcoming you to one of these centres once the government restrictions around COVID-19 are lifted.

My children have swim lessons at Carnival Pool and Fitness Centre. Can I transfer them to another Places Leisure Centre?

Many of you took advantage of the 3-week priority transfer window offering to move your lessons to the new Bulmershe Leisure Centre or nearby Loddon Valley Leisure Centre.

If you didn't request a transfer, either of these centres may still have some spaces available. Simply email the team on enquiries@loddonvalleyleisurecentre.org or enquiriesBulmershe@pfpleisure.org

If you choose not to transfer to another of our centres, your lessons will be cancelled automatically and we will be in touch about any refunds due to any missed lessons during the centre's unexpected early closure due to the government restrictions around COVID-19.

Can you tell me more about the new Bulmershe Leisure Centre?

Bulmershe Leisure Centre is a £14.5 million centre that includes a 25m swimming pool, a teaching pool with movable floor, a larger gym, a 4-court sports hall, an additional studio and a café.  You can find out more and take a virtual tour by clicking on the link below.

Bulmershe Leisure Centre

We originally planned to open the new centre on Wednesday 22nd April. However, the current restrictions on leisure centres due to COVID-19 mean that the date has been postponed. After the restrictions have been lifted, we will need a few weeks to put the finishing touches to the new centre.

Can you tell me more about the new Carnival centre?

Whilst it is two years away, we can tell you the new centre will feature a 6 lane 25m pool, a teaching pool with movable floor, a larger fitness suite, dedicated group cycling studio, two large studios. There will also be a large library including space for events and activities, lending library, fun children’s zones and space for exhibitions and a gallery.
