We offer the following courses:

First Aid at Work 3 day

The 3 day First Aid at Work qualification is one of the recommended qualifications for First Aiders in the workplace.

Candidates must be 16 to enrol onto a course which covers responsibilities of a First Aider, casualty assessment and casualty treatment for a number of injuries, illnesses and medical conditions.

Successful candidates will receive:

  • Royal Lifesaving Society (RLSS) First Aid at Work certificate
  • First Aid at Work manual
First Aid at Work 2 day renewal

This 2 day course refreshes and updates the first aid skills of those who need to renew their First Aid at Work certificate (within the 3 year validity). The course will reassess the competency of those attending.

As a pre-requisite, candidates must hold an existing FAAW certificate to enrol onto a 2 day First Aid at Work renewal course.

Successful candidates will receive:

  • Royal Lifesaving Society First Aid at Work certificate
  • First Aid at Work manual
Annual First Aid 3 hour refresher

To provide adequate training to enable first aid to be given in the workplace.

The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) strongly recommend that holders of a First Aid at Work qualification refresh skills annually by attending a refresher session.

You must hold a current First Aid at Work qualification to attend the course.

The session covers responsibilities of a First Aider, casualty assessment and casualty treatment.

Successful candidates will receive a certificate.

Paediatric First Aid 2 day

The 2 day course is designed for those looking after young children and infants, including day nurseries, private nursery schools, pre-schools, school clubs in the early years age group, child-minders and carers of children at home. The syllabus includes medical conditions and injuries that children and babies may suffer from. Candidates will be taught the recognition and treatment for these conditions and injuries.

The Paediatric First Aid course meets Ofsted Early Years and Childcare Register requirements.

Successful candidates will receive:

  • Royal Lifesaving Society Paediatric First Aid certificate
  • Paediatric First Aid manual
National Pool Lifeguard Qualification (NPLQ)

NPLQ is widely accepted by swimming pools in the UK and Ireland as a minimum qualification as a role of a lifeguard within the swimming pool.

The NPLQ course includes 3 sections:

  • Section 1 - The lifeguard and the Law, Swimming Pool and Supervision
  • Section 2 - Intervention and Rescue and Emergency Action Plans
  • Section 3 - Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation and First Aid.

The course includes swimming pool rescue skills, basic life support, basic First Aid, managing a casualty suffering from a spinal injury, managing a swimming pool environment, identifying hazards that could cause harm to users and much more.

Every candidate attending a NPLQ course must be 16-years-old at the time of taking the NPLQ final assessment and be able to:

  • Jump/dive into deep water
  • Swim 50 metres in less than 60 seconds
  • Swim 100 metres continuously on front and back in deep water
  • Tread water for 30 seconds
  • Surface dive to the floor of the pool
  • Climb out unaided without ladder/steps and where the pool design allows

Successful candidates will receive:

  • RLSS NPLQ certificate for each candidate
  • RLSS NPLQ Lifeguard manual for each candidate
  • Handouts and revision sheets for each candidate

 Course dates:

  • 29th July - 3rd August 2019
  • 19th August - 24th August 2019
  • 28th October - 2nd November 2019
